Siddhi Bhairavesara Swamy

Siddhi Bhairavesara Swamy.

"The famous Lord Shiva temple is located at Ramapuram Village in Prakasam District of Andhra Pradesh. Maharishi Jamadagni (one among seven great Saptarishis) who is best known for his forgiveness, cool and calm temperament, once lived at the famous Kanaka Surabheswara temple. Sri Parashurama Devaru, son of Jamadagni Maharishi killed Kartavirya Arjuna in compliance to the advice of his father. The local sadhus who are staying at that sacred place during that time left Kanaka Surabheswara temple thereafter and moved to nearby place called Avulakonda. They were very much attracted by the beauty and greenery of the surrounding hills. They established a Shiva Lingam to perform Tapasya [Meditation], daily pujas, rituals and to finally attain Moksha [liberation]. Since then the temple got its name as Siddhi Bhairavesara Swamy Temple. People from different religions come to this holy place to worship Lord Bhairavesara Swamy [Lord Shiva] and to pray for fulfillment of their wishes and desires. Pilgrims can take bath at the newly renovated Konera at the entrance of the steps. It is a perfect tourist spot as well with waterfalls and other small surrounding temples. Devotees usually collect water from the Jaladhara falling at the back of Shiva Lingam in the Garba Griha and pour it on Lord Mahadev with great devotion chanting the holy words "Om Namah Shivaya". Local people celebrate Tirunallu [celebrations] in Magha month and Karteekam. Maha Shivarathri festival particularly is celebrated with great ardor" (Kishan Hattangadi)

Sri Vanchinathan Iyer, remembering a great freedom fighter

He was Vanchinathan Iyer.  May his memory live long despite Dravid efforts to eradicate what so many Iyers sacrificed and built for the Nation.

Today (17/6/2017) is the remembrance day of Shri Vanchinatha Iyer,  who was an active participant in the Indian Independence Movement.

Vanchinathan was born in Shenkottai in 1886. His parents were Ragupathy Iyer and Rukmani Ammal. His wife's name was Ponnammal. His actual name was Shankaran.
Vanchi, when he was just 25, killed the district collector of Thirunelveli, Ashe, also known as Durai when Ashe's train stopped at Maniyaachi station. Ashe was with his wife Mary Lillian Patterson, who arrived from Ireland just a few days ago before the incident. Ashe and his wife were on their way to Kodaikkanal where his four children Molly, Arthur, Sheila and HErbert lived in a rented bungalow. When they were sitting in the first class carriage waiting for their train to arrive, a neatly dressed young man and a beside him a man with dhothi arrived at the carriage. After arriving, the former pulled his Belgium made Browling pistol and shot Ashe and the bullet hit his chest.

After killing him, Vanchi ran to the lavaratory in the station where he shot in his mouth. Later when examined, his gun was empty for he had a plan only to kill Ashe and himself and not to hurt anyone. A letter was revealed from his pocket and it said
"I dedicate my life as a small contribution to my motherland. I am alone responsible for this.

The mlechas of England having captured our country, tread over the sanathana dharma of the Hindus and destroy them. Every Indian is trying to drive out the English and get swarajyam and restore sanathana dharma. Our Raman, Sivaji, Krishnan, Guru Govindan, Arjuna ruled our land protecting all dharmas, but in this land they are making arrangements to crown George V, a mlecha, and one who eats the flesh of cows.

Three thousand Madrasees have taken a vow to kill George V as soon as he lands in our country. In order to make others know our intention, I who am the least in the company, have done this deed this day. This is what everyone in Hindustan should consider it as his duty.

I will kill Ashe, whose arrival here is to celebrate the crowning of King George in this glorious land which was once ruled by great samrats. This I do to make them understand the fate of those who cherish the thought of enslaving this sacred land.

I, as the least of them, wish to warn George by killing Ashe who is his sole representative and has destroyed the Swadeshi shipping company and several other freedom fighters by subjecting them to severe torture.

Vande Mataram. Vande Mataram. Vande Mataram"
— sd/-, R. Vanchi Aiyar, Shencottah

Our history books gave separate chapters for those who looted and plundered our country by glorifying them, yet they ignored such valiant heroes who fought for Bharath Mata and Sanathana Dharma. I request all my non- Tamil friends to share this in their timeline so that the fame off this man reaches everyhwere.
May Vanchinatha Iyer be remembered for his sacrifice in the upcoming generations.
Vande Mataram!!!
Jai Shri Ram!!!
