PART-1
I have just finished reading 13% of Tamil epic, Shilapaddikaram. With whatever I have read so far, I have found enough material to puncture most of Dravidian Supremacists' claims.
1) Most of Dumeels claim that Aryans invaded Tamil Nadu. Nothing can be further from the truth. In this epic, the ruler of the land is a Pandya King, who infact conquered land up to the Himalayas. This King is a megalomaniac by today's standards. There's a mention of how 108 vanquished Kings had to carry water scented with pollen for the Pandya King to take bath on a certain auspicious day.
2) Another claim of these Dumeels is that only Shiva is their God and that rest all are Aryan gods. Just a first few chapters of reading shows unambiguous references to Vishnu, Brahma, Shiva, Kama, Rati, Narada... But the God that is referenced the most, hold your breath, is Indra. So, we are practically in a Vedic era where Indra ruled the roost. There are many references to Arundhati and Sage Vasishta. Why are the saptarishis spoken of reverentially beats me.
3) Third claim of these dumeels is that Tamilan culture was vastly different from Aryan culture. This claim is punctured in the very first chapter where it is clearly stated that the protagonists - Kovalan and Kannagi get married as per Aryan rituals. The pandya king going on search of a befitting opponent till the Himalayas also reflects the Aryan rajasuya trend of those times. What distinct Tamilan culture are these dumeels talking about then?
4) next, these dumeel idiots also claim that the original inhabitants were jains and Buddhists who were massacred by evil Hindus. Note a couple of sentences from the epic - "A festive crowd invaded the precincts of the temple, where Vedic rituals once revealed by the god Brahma were faultlessly performed." And "Temples of the Jains and their charitable institutions could be seen in the city. In public squares, priests were recounting stories from the scriptures of the ancient Puranas." Does it appear that there was enemity between jains and others from these sentences? 🤔 To me it appears there was all-round peaceful coexistence. There's no mention of Buddhists - perhaps they weren't popular yet or perhaps this story predates Buddhism. So what crap are these dumeels peddling then ????🤔
In my opinion, it doesn't require a scholar to bust the claims of the dumeels. Just picking up the sangam epics should be enough to expose these Dravidian supremacists.
In my opinion, these Dravidian supremacists should find the deepest empty well in the deserts of Tamil Nadu and jump headlong into it.
