Syama Sastri, one of the most renowned composers of Carnatic music

Syama Sastri (also commonly transliterated as Shyama Shastri) (26.04.1762– 06.02.1827) is one of the most renowned composers of Carnatic music. He is the oldest among the Trinity of Carnatic music, Tyagaraja and Muthuswami Dikshitar being the other two

Fondly remembered with respects on his Birth Anniversary

"We were lucky to visit the house where he lived in Tiruvarur; as you all know, this is the unique village where all the three composers were born. Imagine Beethoven, Mozart, Bach being born in the same town!!!!as I used to tell my french friends" (Ramanathan Suryanarayanan)

The last hereditary Mirasdar of Tiruvarur, Air Commodore R. Aatmaram, was a family friend. He was my Dad's eldest brother's classmate My paternal Grandfather B. S. Ramaswamy Aiyar taught him to fly when he was teaching his sons Air Commodore R. Sitaram and Air Marshal R. Rajaram to fly at the Madras flying club. Athu Mama's son Pradeep Rao,recently retired as an instructor pilot from Air India.
