NAME: Omkareshwar & Amareshwar Twin Jyotirlingas (Lord of Omkara & Lord of Immortality, respectively)

LOCATION: Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. Main/elder Jyotirling Omkareshwar is located on an island in River Narmada & the younger Jyotirlinga is located on the banks of the river.

ORIGINALLY BUILT BY: The most credible legend says Raghuvanshi King Mandhata and his son.

BRIEF HISTORY: King Mandhata of Ikshvaku clan (an ancestor of Lord Ram) worshiped Lord Shiva here till the Lord manifested himself as a Jyotirlinga in two portions, Omkareshwar & Amareshwar.

Kaaverika narmadayoh pavitre samagame sajjanataranaya
Sadaiv mandhatripuray vasantam Omkarameesam Shivamekameeday
