NAME: Rameshwar/Ramnath/Ramnathaswamy (Lord of Shri Ram)
LOCATION: Rameshwaram Island, Tamilnadu
ORIGINALLY BUILT BY: Maryada Purushottam Prabhu Shri Ram. <3 Twin Jyotirling again. One brought by Hanuman ji from Kailash & one made by Maiya Vaidehi using sand. Modern temples were rebuilt by Pandyan & Jaffna Chinkaiariyan dynasties.
BRIEF HISTORY: After war of Lanka Prabhu Sri Ram wanted to establish a Shivlinga and pray to Mahadev ji to absolve him of the Brahmahatya sin (Caused by killing Ravan). Hanuman ji reached Kailash & received a Jyotirling from Mahadev ji himself. But since he got late to reach & auspicious time was running out Maiya Sita made a Lingam out of sand and it was blessed & initiated by Mahadev ji as a Jyotirling. Once Hanuman ji returned, the original Jyotirling too was established, hence making the Jyotirlings twins. Modern temples were rebuilt by Pandyan & Jaffna Chinkaiariyan dynasties.
REMARKS: This Jyotirling too resides as Twins. As advised by Prabhu Shri Ram, devotees worship the elder Jyotirling from Kailash first & then continue to worship the Sand-made Jyortirling.

Sutamraparnijalrashi yoge nibadhya setum vishikhairasankhyaih .
Shree Ramachandrena samarpitam tam Rameshwarakhyam niyatam namami
