Educational data of 1825, Madras, collected by British Government.
Till the 'Gurukul and Pathshala' based Indian Educational system could withstand the Colonial destruction of indegeneous Education System, Shudras and other caste students in Primary Education, were around seven to eight times the number of Brahmin students.
All the data is provided in Dharampal's book "The Beautiful Tree" and is also available in Tamil Nadu State Archives (TNSA).
I had written an earlier post, explaining the fallacy of 'caste based discrimination in Education in pre-colonial India', narrative perpetuated by Christian Colonial machinery and the detailed analysis of Traditional Indian Educational System suiting highly skilled but manual Production based Varna society, accounting for the lower no of artisanal and other caste students and higher number of Brahmin students in Traditional Higher Education of Indian system, expertising in Shastra, Logic, astronomy, Literature etc.
